NAFIS | Brand Identity & Packaging Design

NAFIS is a modest fashion brand for Muslim women in Cairo, built around everyday wear rather than occasion dressing.

The Challenge

The Challenge

The Challenge

Cairo's premium modest-wear space already had two credible players occupying opposite ends of the market. Sumaya Couture owns the "elite occasion" tier — polished, event-first, priced for the days that call for a statement. The Black Closet owns "minimal, modern," and owns it at real scale, with a large existing following and an active storefront. Nafis needed a positioning that could sit at the same price tier as the elite houses, without competing on their occasion-first ground, and without repeating territory an established competitor already held.

The Strategy

The Challenge

The Challenge

The direction was built around a single idea: luxury that shows up on a Tuesday. Not a cheaper alternative — a different occasion entirely. Nafis sits at price parity with the elite tier, justified through substance rather than markup: imported fabric sourcing and a named designer collaboration behind the collections. The target woman — B+ and above, based across Maadi, Sheikh Zayed, Dokki, 6th of October, New Cairo, and Shorouk — already invests in premium modest fashion. She doesn't need convincing to spend. She needs her everyday wardrobe, not just her occasion wear, to reflect the same taste level.

The Identity

The Challenge

The Touchpoints

Every visual decision reinforces quiet confidence over embellishment. A brown-led palette — espresso, warm taupe, ivory — grounded and warm rather than the cooler monochrome minimalism already present in the market. A thin, elegant serif typemark, built in both Arabic and English lockups. No heavy branding, no logo-forward statement pieces. The identity had to feel like the positioning before a single word was read.

The Marketing Strategy

The Touchpoints

The packaging system — hang tag, dust bag, thank-you card, wrapping — was designed as an extension of the unboxing moment, built to match the price point it sits at. The thank-you card carries a bilingual close: an English note of gratitude, paired with a traditional Arabic dua for new garments, left untranslated and intact.

The Marketing Strategy

Egypt's social-commerce behavior shaped the channel plan directly — Instagram and TikTok function as storefronts here, not just awareness channels, so the strategy treats them as commerce infrastructure from day one, with WhatsApp Business as the retention layer. Five content pillars carry the "everyday, not occasion" positioning through every post: daily-context styling, the sourcing and designer-credibility story, quiet styling guidance, unboxing moments, and understated community content — deliberately avoiding the loud, discount-driven influencer approach common in the category.

The Prelaunch

The Marketing Strategy

The Marketing Strategy

With no product photography available yet, the prelaunch was built entirely from edited, color-graded imagery — fabric, hands, texture, light — sequenced across six posts to build anticipation without ever implying a specific look was the finished product. The arc moves deliberately: plant the idea, introduce the core insight, reveal the name, tell the brand story, build craft credibility, announce the launch date. Grid sequencing was treated as its own design decision, not an afterthought.

Brand strategy, competitive positioning, visual identity, logo design, color system, typography, packaging design, marketing strategy, prelaunch content strategy and campaign copy.
